One of my favorite memories of Aunt Ginny is shopping with her. I can remember how much Aunt Ginny loved having a little girl to shop with. One particular memory I have is a memory from when I was in elementary school…..
When I was in elementary school I can remember wanting a pair of KSwiss tennis shoes. These shoes were more expensive than what I normally would get, but everyone either had a pair or wanted a pair (I know my generation of cousins know exactly what I’m talking about.) I knew my mom and dad were not going to spend that kind of money on shoes that I would quickly outgrow and they really didn’t have the budget for them anyway. Aunt Ginny came to the rescue! On one of our visits to Great Mamaw’s house Aunt Ginny told me we were going shopping. She took me into downtown Columbus to City Center. I loved when I go to shop at City Center because you could only find such an exceptional, three story mall when you visited the city and as a child it made me feel like I was definitely “big time.” Aunt Ginny took me from store to store until we found that perfect pair of KSwiss tennis shows that I just had to have and of course Aunt Ginny told me if I had to have them she was going to get them for me. I was over the moon excited to get these shoes and couldn’t wait to go to school that next week and have all my friends see that I had those shoes. I loved that shopping trip with Aunt Ginny and will always cherish that memory.

Our fun aunt, the baby of the family, the one who took us to the pool, to the bowling alley, taught us how to plays cards and jitterbug, did jigsaw puzzles with us even though we were incredibly annoying and would sneak pieces out so we could put the last piece in, let us play her vast collection of 45s, gave us special coins from the bank, sometimes let the girls mess with her makeup a little before she chased us out, let us sleep in her room, was quick to call out a cheater and anyone who fouled the air, saying, "Okay, who dropped a rose?"
