Our youngest Agnes graduated from High School in June, and now attends the University of Michigan like her siblings before her. She is thriving in Ann Arbor, studying Spanish and thinking about medical school. Her older brother Jeremiah and his longtime partner Kaylee Picard, and their two cats, live a couple of blocks away in Ann Arbor; both are seniors and will be moving to Seattle this summer where Jeremiah will be working for an IT company. Agnes’ oldest brother Robert graduated with a dual degree from the U of M in May in Mechanical Engineering and Art and Design and we are so happy he lives locally for now -he is our premier dog sitter. He too is hoping to move to the West Coast soon. Our oldest, Erin, finished her master ‘s degree program in China and is now happily working in Washington D.C., and living with her longtime partner Ben Cavataro, getting ready to apply to PhD programs in D.C.
We have been travelling this year thanks to our kids who are willing to care for our pets. Using Rob’s medical practice/research as an excuse, we visited Texas several times this winter. Lucky Kristina traveled to Alaska in July with Rob’s mom Mary Beth Pratt and nephews Lowden Pratt and Dan Pratt- a fun foursome. We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary on Mackinac Island, and then traveled to Quebec City and Montreal. This fall we were able to stay at our up north Michigan house many times. In November, our beloved but wild dog Toby ran off into the north woods after a deer or turkey. Despite hiking, searching, calling around for 3 days we could not find him. He emerged from the woods two weeks later, after a porcupine encounter, 3 miles from our cabin. He is a survivor but maybe not so smart. We are so thankful to the folks who caught him and that he is back with us.
